Level 3: Supervisor/Business Manager
Overview
Unlike all other learning for leaders, this three level curriculum is designed to integrate key soft skills with hard performance tools and metrics, at each level, to give leaders the ability and confidence to lead teams in today’s intensely competitive, costconscious global marketplace. Covers four leadership roles: #1 Productivity Manager, #2 People/Team Leader, #3 Human Resource Applications, #4 Business Decision Maker.
Taught at three levels, participants learn in live teams making decisions for simulated people in a virtual team to improve performance, service, quality, and profitability. They learn four ways: from facilitator, computer simulation, team-mates, and other teams. Learning takes place in a simulated environment with immediate feedback on results. Electronic tools are taught and practiced in class–to take back and apply on the job via customized application process.
Objective
Level 3 is a “hands on” learning experience focused on how to apply all four leadership roles. Participants learn to manage a growing business through cost-effective staffing and efficiently using people’s skills to mold them into a top performing team. They learn to use the “powers” of a manager to motivate all levels of performers, provide real performance appraisals, manage budgets, and control costs. They participate in hiring and layoffs, interview applicants, and apply your organization’s Human Resource policies and rules to avoid legal and regulatory problems.
Features action learning, team exercises, and a computer simulation of a work group with virtual people to lead, some effective and some not. Participants practice skills and get immediate feedback on results. The simulation compresses four months of real world 1st level manager experience into three real-time days, thus providing invaluable experiential learning.
